ABOUT

We are Karatas Robinson, a London-based design studio founded by two architectural designers with a shared vision: to create compelling and innovative designs at every scale. Rooted in collaboration and interdisciplinary thinking, our work extends beyond architecture to encompass interiors, furniture, and object design.
Every project is approached with precision and curiosity, ensuring that our designs are not only functional but also rich in narrative and intent. From buildings to jewellery, we seek to elevate the everyday, transforming familiar forms into distinctive and enduring pieces. Our goal is to craft designs that are timeless, inspiring, and deeply connected to their surroundings.

Team

Founder Dilan Karatas

Dilan Karatas is an architecturally trained designer with a BSc in Architecture from the Technical University of Berlin. In 2022, she relocated from Berlin to London to pursue and successfully graduate with an MA in Interior Design from the Royal College of Art.

With a meticulous eye for detail and aesthetics, Dilan honed her skills at the world-renowned Foster + Partners, where she explored the intersection of architecture and interior design within high-end luxury hospitality and commercial projects across the globe.

Her background in drama and dance shapes her architectural design philosophy, where she views space as a stage and prioritises movement and spatial awareness to create dynamic and immersive interiors.

As part of Karatas Robinson, Dilan leads the studio’s interior architecture and concept to execution.

Founder James Robinson

James Robinson is a researcher and designer with a focus on architecture, fabrication, and visual storytelling. He completed his BSc in Architecture (First Class) and MArch in Architecture (Distinction) at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL.

Currently part of the team at an architectural office in London, James contributes to the design and development of high-profile, large-scale commercial projects, while completing his RIBA Part 3 qualification to become a registered architect.

He also creates bespoke furniture and experimental design objects, exploring how craft, technology, and narrative can come together in tangible form.

At Karatas Robinson, he leads the architectural direction of the studio, managing residential projects and overseeing visualisation.
